Working for a start-up sometimes require some travelling. This time it was mine and Mattias’ turn. The destination: New York! Why? To present at TechCrunch Disrupt. If you are curious about the event you can read more about it here.
We found a nice hotel on Manhattan not too far away from the venue where the presentation and the preparatory work was done. It was rather minimal, but well suited for the purpose of sleeping. Not much else though, only one person could be standing at the same time.
Sometimes we got crudely awoken by the fire alarm and got to see some authentic New York fire fighters.
Breakfast in New York is best eaten at the local diner. It’s cheap, nice and very efficient. Our favourite place was Scotty’s.
Usually we just had eggs, but the bagels were quite nice as well. Of course there was also a never ending supply of coffee.
We managed to combine work and pleasure by practising the presentation in Central Park. Sometimes we had quite a big “involuntary” audience of people passing by.
I also had time to visit the transit museum. Below you can see a turnstile that will never work with the Fidesmo Card 🙂
All in all it was a quite interesting trip.
