Fidesmo wins the 2014 SESAMES Awards for the best innovation in transportation services

Fidesmo is the proud winner of the 2014 SESAMES Awards for the best innovation in transportation services at the CARTES SECURE CONNEXIONS event in Paris. Fidesmo´s connected card for public transport ticketing was awarded the price in competition with Transport for London and Xerox.

Fidesmo provides the Fidesmo Card that can be updated via smart phones and internet. The first product enables consumers to buy and upload tickets to the card where and when they want with their smart phones. For public transport organizations, every phone becomes a sales channel for tickets. Additionally, consumers can use one card for all cities connected to the Fidesmo service.

CARTES SECURE CONNEXIONS 2014 is the Global Event for Payment, Identification and Mobility. It is the only industry-defining event bringing together the world’s most comprehensive offer of solutions for payment, identification and mobility. This week 20,000+ attendees from 140 countries from the Financial, Retail, Government, Identity and Access, Telecommunications and Transportation sectors, have converged in Paris to explore how our digital society is evolving.

The competition was free of charge and open to all companies operating in the sector. A total of 338 companies participated, 34 made it to the finals and 11 winners were awarded. The jury composed of experts from the industry.

Fidesmo wins MIFARE Award for the most innovative idea for new services

The startup Fidesmo is the proud winner of the MIFARE Awards organized by NXP Semiconductors. Fidesmo’s connected card for smart public transport ticketing won the category for the most innovative idea for new MIFARE applications, services or products.

We are proud that such an industry heavyweight awards us the first prize for the most innovative idea for MIFARE. Fidesmo is launching its connected cards for public transport at the TechCrunch Disrupt New York

The startup Fidesmo launched its first products for connected cards at the Startup Battlefield at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference in New York. With the Fidesmo Card, consumers can buy and upload tickets for public transit with their smart phones. The Fidesmo Card disrupts the sales of public transit tickets, as every phone becomes a sales outlet and there is no longer any need for physical infrastructure to sell tickets.

“Fidesmo´s connected card is a game changer for public transport ticketing. Consumers can buy and upload tickets to the card where and when they want with their smart phones. As we roll out, they will also benefit from having the same card for public transit in multiple cities. Fidesmo provides the Fidesmo Card, a connected card that can be updated over the air or from mobile phones. The first product is targeting public transport organizations and the card integrates seamlessly with the existing ticketing infrastructures. In addition, Fidesmo invites other companies to develop services using its platform via open APIs.

Swedish startup Fidesmo wins the VINN NU grant

The Swedish startup Fidesmo announces today that it has been elected winner of the VINN NU grant. The VINN NU grant is awarded twice a year to companies less than a year old by Sweden´s innovation agency VINNOVA, and this time 21 companies were awarded the price. Thanks to leading edge technology to remotely manage secure applications in smart phones and connected devices, Fidesmo won the VINN NU grant in stiff competition with more than 200 startup companies.

As a winner of the grant, Fidesmo receives SEK 300 000 to be used to accelerate Fidesmo’s business and technology development activities. The vision is to enable consumers to use their smart phones as a replacement for physical keys and ticketing cards (with NFC technology), and to create a cost-effective process for enterprises to manage connected devices in machine-to-machine.

Swedish startup Fidesmo secures seed financing

The Swedish startup Fidesmo announces today that it has secured seed financing from Jan Bosch and Niclas Lilja. The proceeds will be used to accelerate Fidesmo’s technology development to create and operate a platform for remote management of secure applications in smart phones and connected devices. The vision is to enable consumers to use their smart phones as a replacement for physical keys and ticketing cards (with NFC technology), and to create a cost-effective process for enterprises to manage connected devices in machine-to-machine.

Jan Bosch is professor of software engineering at Chalmers in Gothenburg and professor of software engineering at the University of Groningen. His industry background includes positions at Intuit, Mountain View, CA, and Nokia Research Center in Helsinki, Finland. Jan holds a MSc degree from the University of Twente, the Netherlands and a PhD degree from Lund University, Sweden.

Niclas Lilja is the founder of Forest Avenue AB, a company specialized in seed and early stage investments in technology startups. Niclas background includes positions as Communications Director 3 in Scandinavia, Vice President OMX Group and Visiting Scholar Stanford University. He holds a MSc degree from Stockholm School of Economics.

Fidesmo was founded by Mattias Eld, Miguel Cardo and Petter Arvidsson in 2013 and is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. Jan and Niclas will join the Board of Directors. Fidesmo has previously been granted an Innovation Loan from Almi.
